About the Gallery
The Roy T. Wardell Art Gallery is an open, welcoming exhibition space within the Greeley Creative Arts Center (GCAC), a program of the Greeley Creative District. It’s a space where the community gathers: exhibitions share the room with receptions, live music, and everyday visitors, and a vibrant colored-concrete floor mural designed by Samuel Dong Saul runs through the center of the room. Skylights bring natural light into the gallery, supplemented by gallery-grade track lighting.
Walls stand approximately 9 feet tall and are fitted with a Walker Display art rail system. Depending on scale, the walls comfortably hold either 8 large works or about 30 small to mid-sized pieces. We welcome 2D and 3D work and are open to discussing larger installations or multimedia projects.
It is always free to apply to exhibit in the Wardell Gallery.
Solo Exhibitions
BRIAN DUNNING, Curiosity, Wonder and Joy, 2026
We’re looking for artists ready to fill our gallery with a focused, cohesive body of work. Proposals may be built around a single series, a new direction, or a project years in the making. We welcome both established and emerging artists.
Submissions may include painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking, ceramics, fiber, mixed media, installation, and new media. Because the gallery is a shared space, we encourage artists to visit before submitting so we can talk through how your work will live in the room.
Remaining Available Solo Exhibition Months: August, September, October, November 2027
Eligibility
Solo exhibition proposals may be submitted by anyone in the general public. GCAC members receive acceptance priority.
Submission Requirements
Please submit the following through our online application:
Exhibition name and proposal: A title for your show and a description of the work you plan to exhibit, including its concept, approximate number and scale of pieces, and any special installation needs
Artist statement and biography: Please limit each document to a single page.
Images of your work: High-quality images of the pieces you plan to show. If your work is still in progress, please submit a portfolio of representative samples plus mock-ups or sketches of the proposed work.
Selection Process
Proposals will be reviewed by Greeley Creative District staff based on the following criteria:
Artistic excellence, originality, and technical proficiency
Strength and clarity of the exhibition concept
Appropriateness of scale, material, and form for the space
Alignment with Greeley Creative District community values
Safety considerations for audience and venue
Artist’s educational and professional background
Relevance to the Center’s mission and the Greeley Creative District
Engagement with intended audiences
Artist Responsibilities
Selected artists are responsible for transportation, installation, and deinstallation of their work, under the supervision of GCAC staff. Artists load in during the first week of their exhibition month, and all work must be removed following the month’s end so the gallery can be prepared for the next artist. The gallery is not responsible for work left beyond that period.
Artists may also be invited to participate in receptions, artist talks, workshops, or demonstrations during their show.
Framing and Presentation Guidelines
The GCAC strives for our exhibiting artists to present their work in a clean, professional manner. Unusual framing or display approaches are welcome but must be approved by GCAC staff before submission.
2D Works: Please do not use clip frames, taped frames, or saw tooth hangers, which do not reliably support the weight of frames. Works must be securely and suitably framed with screw eyes or D-Rings and wires firmly attached to the frame.
2D Works: All 2D works must be either gallery wrapped or properly framed. Clean, neutral-toned frames are preferred, unless otherwise discussed in advance. Works on paper must be matted using clean, archival, or acid-free mats and covered with glass/plexiglass.
2D Works: Wires must be attached approximately1/3 from the top of the artwork for wall installation.
3D Works: Artist must include secure bases, display stands, or mounting hardware, along with clear placement instructions for all pieces.
Sales
A 30% commission will be applied to all artwork sold during the exhibition (20% for GCAC member artists). Payments will be issued within 30 days following the close of the exhibit.
Note: if you plan to sell your works, please list the price next to the titles in your application (e.g., “Cows in Space, $500”).

Under Construction: A Youth Arts Council Exhibition
The Greeley Creative District invites student artists (ages 14-18) to submit artwork to be considered for "Under Construction," a gallery exhibition focused on community change.
This exhibition will be curated by the Greeley Creative District Youth Arts Council, and on view throughout March in celebration of Youth Art Month.
About the Exhibition
Every community is always in the process of being built, torn down, and rebuilt: not only its streets and storefronts, but its people, its identities, and its sense of belonging. Our community is changing in ways that are exciting, difficult, and deeply personal. Neighbors arrive from all over the world. Neighborhoods grow, shift, and change. Old stories are questioned, and new ones are still being written.
The Greeley Creative Arts Center’s Youth Arts Council invites high school artists to explore change in all its forms. What is being built where you live? What is being lost? Who is welcome in the blueprint? What do you carry with you when everything around you shifts? Do you envision something different for the future?
Respond through your own experience, your family’s story, or what you see around you. We’re looking for honest, thoughtful work in any medium.

Chromatic: A Community Exhibition in Celebration of Pride
MACEY BOREN, CONTINUUM, 2026
The Greeley Creative Arts Center invites artists to submit proposals for “Chromatic,” a month-long exhibition in the Roy T. Wardell Art Gallery celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride. The exhibition will be on view throughout June at the Greeley Creative Arts Center, 702 13th Street, Greeley, Colorado.
About the Exhibition
To the painter, “chromatic” unfurls the frontiers of color: hues, tones, shades, and all that falls within the spectrum of visible light. To the musician, “chromatic” dares an appreciation for notes that venture beyond the parameters of tonal harmony, and savors steps more frequently skipped. In identity, there exists these same degrees of distinction and deviation, as an individual explores how they are meant to be seen, heard, and understood. “Chromatic” seeks work that reflects the varied, luminous shades of self, and celebrates the expansive palette of our collective belonging.
Artists are encouraged to challenge binaries, embrace intersectionality, and honor the diverse experiences that shape who we are. This exhibition aims to foster dialogue, visibility, and connection, celebrating both shared and unique aspects of human experience, particularly within LGBTQ+ communities.
Submissions may include, but are not limited to, painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, installation, and new media.

3×3: A Micro Art Festival
The Greeley Creative District invites artists to submit proposals for “3x3: A Micro Art Festival.” The exhibition will be on view throughout July at the Greeley Creative Arts Center, 702 13th Street, Greeley, Colorado.
The exhibition culminates in a silent auction fundraiser benefiting the Greeley Creative District, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting arts and culture in our community. Proceeds from artwork sales directly support future exhibitions, public programs, and creative opportunities throughout Greeley.
About the Exhibition
“3x3: A Micro Art Festival” celebrates the power of small-scale work and big creative ideas. This exhibition invites artists to create original artworks contained within 3x3x3 inches — intimate pieces designed to fit in the palm of a hand while carrying the impact and craftsmanship of larger works.
Whether whimsical, refined, experimental, or deeply personal, 3x3 celebrates accessibility, collectibility, and the idea that meaningful art does not require monumental scale. Working within a shared size challenges artists to rethink material, detail, and storytelling in inventive ways.
All submissions must fit within 3x3x3 inches, roughly the size of a Rubik’s Cube. Media may include painting, ceramics, fiber art, metalwork, jewelry, photography, sculpture, mixed media, and more. Artists are encouraged to explore what “micro art” can be, from tiny landscapes and miniature vessels to wearable work and small-scale experiments of all kinds.
Eligibility
Anyone in the Greeley area may propose artwork for the exhibition. There is no fee to apply.
By submitting to the festival, artists agree to make accepted artwork available for sale through the silent auction fundraiser. (Find more information under “Sales.”)
